Jesus Christ Superstar traces the last seven days of the life of Christ as seen through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. An explosive musical written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyricized by Tim Rice, Superstar explores Jesus the man as He grapples with His impending sacrifice; as well as the inner turmoil experienced by Judas who makes some irreversible decisions in an attempt to fight for the integrity of their ministry. This production saw its Reps Theatre debut in 1974 when Adrian Stanley purchased the first rights (outside of Britain) to this work. It was performed again in 1996 and returns to stage this year as the theatre celebrates its 60th birthday.
